We value positive relationships with parents and carers to help develop better social and emotional skills in children. We know that when children are engaged with their learning, they attend school more regularly, leading to better long term outcomes.
For parenting and counselling services, visit the Family Support page, and for direction and clarity on regulations, processes and procedures at our school, read the Sydney Catholic School policies.
We communicate with parents about their children’s learning and wellbeing as well as what’s happening in the school. We encourage parents and teachers to be in regular contact in addition to the parent teacher evenings which are held twice a year. Every fortnight we send parents a link to a digital newsletter filled with news, photos, videos and information.
Parents are welcomed in our classrooms as parent volunteers to help with small group learning as well as coming on excursions and volunteering in our canteen. We open our classrooms to showcase our ‘learning in action’ throughout each term, and invite parents to our public speaking competitions, assemblies, sports presentations, grandparents day, book week parades, musicals, talent quests, band performances, Masses, liturgies and other school events.
We are fortunate to have a very active Parents and Friends Association (P&F) which is an important part of our school community. Our P&F strengthens the partnership between family and school for the benefit of our children’s overall development and learning. Our generous parents coordinate the St Kevin’s Annual Fete which is a successful event that build a wonderful sense of community. We have a class parent network which provides information to our families as well as providing opportunities to develop friendships through social events. Our P&F Meetings are held each term and are advertised in our school newsletter.
